Vinyl Flooring Installation Instructions
Thank you for choosing Vinyl Floors Unlimited!
When properly installed and cared for, your new flooring will be easy to maintain and keep its great look for years.
Important Safety Warning:
• DO NOT sand, dry sweep, dry scrape, drill, saw, bead-blast, or mechanically chip existing resilient flooring, backing, lining felt, or adhesives. Improper handling of old materials could release hazardous dust.
Pre-Installation Instructions:
1. Climate Considerations:
• After installation, ensure that the flooring is not exposed to temperatures below 0°F (-15°C) or above 140°F (60°C).
2. Inspect Materials:
• Before installation, inspect your flooring for any visible defects. No claims on surface damage will be accepted once the floor is installed.
3. Prepare Your Subfloor:
• The subfloor must be clean, dry, and level to 1/8” (3mm) within a 10-foot (3-meter) span.
• Remove dirt, paint, varnish, wax, oils, solvents, and any contaminants.
• Avoid using products with petroleum, solvents, or citrus oils, which may cause staining or floor expansion.
4. Moisture Considerations: • This flooring is waterproof, but not a moisture barrier. Ensure the subfloor is dry, with moisture emissions not exceeding 3 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. per 24 hours.

2. Begin Installation:
• Start with the short side first, followed by the long side.
• Do not use heavy tools to lock the planks; gently buckle them into place to avoid damage.
3. Expansion Gaps:
• Leave 8-10mm expansion gaps around the edges of the flooring.
• For areas exceeding 300 square meters, add floor partitions and expansion joints.
4. Underlay: • Use a 1mm-1.5mm floor pad or mute mat under the flooring for noise reduction. Do not use other materials.
Post-Installation Care:
• Protect your flooring and conduct regular maintenance.
• The floor is waterproof; daily sweeping and mopping with water are sufficient for cleaning.
